Minsun Hong received a master of science with a thesis entitled, “Affective Image Quality for Sports Content”. Some practical insights regarding image quality on displays have led to this academic research begun. First, sports content is on live-broadcasting and there is a tendency to skip a detailed color correction process, even though the shooting is taken in a variety of lighting conditions. Secondly, certain colors of natural environments like white, blue, green occupy a large area of sports images, and these colors are the memory colors that have certain preferred color reproduction styles by general viewers. Based on the literature reviews and user experiments, this research proposes the affective image quality guidelines that satisfy the desired emotions of viewers, and also includes the absolute values of correlated color temperature, contrast, and saturation to improve the original sports image quality.
