Hyungseok Moon (문형석), an undergraduate intern of Color Lab, presented his study at the 2025 Spring Conference of Korean Society of Emotion and Sensibility (한국감성과학회), and received a ‘Special Award(특별상)’ in a session of ‘Next Generation Scholars’. Titled “Skin Tone–Specific Motivations for Face Makeup: Insights from an E-Commerce Review Analysis,” the study analyzed over 11,000 reviews from Sephora.com using natural language processing with LLM methods to explore how users of different skin tones express functional and aesthetic motivations when selecting face makeup. The findings highlight both shared values and nuanced differences across 12 skin tone categories, offering practical implications for inclusive beauty product development. The study was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Suk during the individual study of 2025 Spring. The award not only celebrates the quality of his study but also acknowledges the importance of inclusive, data-driven approaches in the beauty and design industries. Congratulations!
