Byeongjin (병진)’s empirical study on the viewing experience under multiple lighting conditions has been published in the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics (IJIE) as an open-access article. This research was inspired by an everyday challenge: the bluish light inside a refrigerator contrasted sharply with the warmer, yellowish lighting of the dining room, resulting in a misaligned correlated color temperature (CCT) between the in-product space and the surrounding environment.
Although concepts like brightness and chromaticity adjustments have been widely explored for digital displays, disharmony between a product’s internal lighting and the ambient lighting of a larger space has rarely been studied. To address this gap, Byeongjin conducted a series of empirical assessments to identify optimal lighting matches. He is currently enrolled in an integrated PhD program and is on track to complete his doctoral dissertation.
