Ready to make XR in-vehicle lighting testbed, presented by Dr. Taesu Kim

Taesu Kim, as a post-doc researcher in the Color Lab, proudly presents that preparations for the XR in-vehicle lighting testbed are in their final stages. In the ISAL 2023, he presented his research under the title “Mixed Reality-Based Interior Lighting Testbed for Autonomous Vehicles.” The presentation highlighted three pivotal components:

  • Expertise in crafting a mixed reality (MR) testbed setup, which would integrate environment illuminant simulation, ambient lights, and reflective products in both virtual and actual environments.
  • The authentication of the VR’s capabilities in meticulously evaluating the light color and brightness inside vehicles.
  •  Following the validation of the testbed’s effectiveness, they introduced a novel, activity-oriented ceiling light guideline for in-vehicle environments.

The feedback from the symposium was invaluable, and the team, with the collaboration of Chan-Su Lee from Yungnam University, is eagerly anticipating their forthcoming endeavors in perfecting the XR autonomous driving interior light testbed.
