Boram’s Material Network presented at KSDS Fall conference

Boram Kim, a master student of Color lab, made an oral presentation entitled as, “Color and Material Visualization of MoMA Chairs Using Social Network Analysis” at the 2020 Fall International Conference of Korea Society of Design Science(KSDS) in Seoul. Presented ‘Color and Material Network’ is about visualizing relations between different materials to nurture potentials for active exploration of material combinations for aesthetic inspiration in the product design process.

Particularly, she used Social Network Analysis to the visualize relation between material combinations, and the result shows that from each link, we can check designer chairs of those connected materials used together. Furthermore, chrome metal acts as the center of materials, and black, white, brown, yellow materials form subclusters each.
